Squarespace is where a polished marketing site lives. Supabase is where the real application data lives — a Postgres table a backend queries directly, or the live data layer behind a Lovable-built app. The two rarely talk to each other on their own, which means someone ends up copying rows between a Squarespace collection and a Supabase table by hand whenever either side changes. This guide covers how to sync Squarespace and Supabase without code, in either direction.
Why sync Squarespace with Supabase
Squarespace and Supabase solve different problems, and most teams end up needing both:
- Marketing site data feeding an app. A product list or event calendar built in Squarespace can push into a Supabase table that a Lovable app, mobile app, or internal tool queries directly — no one re-typing the same records twice.
- App data surfacing on the public site. Rows created in Supabase (signups, inventory counts, user-submitted content) can flow into a Squarespace collection so the public site reflects live application state without a developer touching the Squarespace template.
- Non-developers stay in Squarespace. Marketing and content teams keep editing in Squarespace’s familiar editor; engineers get the same data in Supabase as a plain Postgres table they can query, join, and build against.
A manual export once during a launch covers that one day. It breaks down the first time either the site content or the app data changes afterward — which, for anything actively maintained, is the normal state.
What you need before you start
- A Squarespace site with the collection (products, events, blog, or a custom list) you want to sync.
- A Supabase project with a table shaped to receive the fields you care about.
- A Synquake account — sign up free at app.synquake.com.
No developer, no Squarespace Developer Platform build, and no custom Supabase Edge Function required. Synquake connects to both platforms’ APIs directly.
Step-by-step: connecting Squarespace and Supabase
1. Connect both accounts
Add Squarespace and Supabase as connections in Synquake. Squarespace authorizes through its API, and Supabase connects with a project URL and service key. Neither credential needs to live in a template or be shared around the team.
2. Pick what to sync
Choose the Squarespace collection and the Supabase table you want it connected to. Most teams start with a single collection — products or events are common first picks — confirm the mapping, then expand.
3. Map fields visually
Draw the connections between Squarespace fields (titles, descriptions, prices, images, custom item fields) and Supabase columns and types. The two sides don’t need matching field names or types up front — Synquake handles the conversion, including turning a Squarespace image field into a stored URL column.
4. Choose sync direction
Pick one-way (Squarespace → Supabase, the common case for feeding an app) or two-way, so changes made directly in Supabase — from an admin panel or a Lovable app’s own editing flow — push back into the Squarespace collection. Two-way sync is included on every Synquake plan, not a paid upgrade.
5. Preview before going live
Run a preview sync against a handful of real items first. Confirm fields land in the right columns and types before turning on continuous sync.
6. Turn on live sync
Once the preview checks out, enable scheduled or real-time sync. From here, a new or updated record on either side flows to the other automatically, with no manual export-import step and no custom sync code to maintain.
Common Squarespace–Supabase sync scenarios
- Lovable apps built on site content. A Lovable-built app queries Supabase directly for product or event data originally entered in Squarespace, avoiding a Squarespace API call on every request.
- User-generated data on the public site. Signups, RSVPs, or inventory changes recorded in Supabase can update a Squarespace collection automatically, so the public page reflects live state.
- Editorial workflow, app delivery. Marketing keeps working in Squarespace’s visual editor; engineers build against a plain Postgres table that updates itself as the site content changes.
- Reporting without touching the live site. A Supabase table mirroring a Squarespace collection supports SQL reporting or a dashboard without hitting the Squarespace API for every query.
Avoiding common sync problems
- Image and media fields: Decide whether a Squarespace image should sync into Supabase as a stored URL or be left out entirely — syncing an asset URL that later changes on the Squarespace side can orphan the reference if the mapping isn’t revisited.
- Price and number formatting: Squarespace often stores prices as formatted strings; map them to a numeric Supabase column explicitly rather than assuming the format matches, or sync will pass through a string a query can’t do math on.
- Schema mismatches: Add a new field to the Squarespace collection and the matching Supabase column at the same time; a column that doesn’t exist yet drops that field on sync rather than guessing a type.
- Duplicate rows: Set a stable matching field (the Squarespace item ID is the safest choice) so re-running a sync updates the existing Supabase row instead of inserting a new one.
Beyond Squarespace and Supabase
Synquake’s sync is any-to-any across nine platforms — Airtable, Webflow, WordPress, Supabase (including Lovable-built apps), Wix, Shopify, Squarespace, Google Sheets, and Contentful — plus CSV import on every plan. The same Squarespace collection you sync with Supabase can also feed an Airtable base for team planning or a Google Sheet for quick reporting, without building a separate integration for each. See the full integrations page for details, or read how it works for the connection, mapping, and monitoring model.
